TORINO: Alpine: Women’s combined training run canceled{mosimage}SAN SICARIO, Italy – A training run for the Olympic women’s combined was canceled Thursday as rain, fog and snow descended on the Olympic mountain venues.

The run, which was to be used for seeding the Friday race, was supposed to begin at noon. The race will now start according to the World Cup Start List.

Americans Lindsey Kildow, Julia Mancuso, Kaylin Richardson and Resi Stiegler are slated to start the race.

Both Kildow and Mancuso are back in action after competing in the downhill Wednesday. Mancuso was the top finisher as she took seventh. Kildow was just behind in eighth.

Kildow was sixth and Mancuso placed 13th in combined at the 2002 Olympics in Utah.

It will be the first Olympic start for both Richardson and Stiegler. Coincidentally, Richardson scored her first career World Cup points last year during a combined event in San Sicario (16th). She’s a three-time NorAm slalom champion as well.

Stiegler, a strong slalom skier, finished sixth in the event at the 2005 World Championships. At just 17 years of age, she placed 10th in the combined at the 2003 worlds.

The upcoming alpine schedule includes women’s combined on Friday, men’s super G on Saturday, women’s super G on Sunday and men’s giant slalom on Monday.
