TORINO: Alpine: Schild, Austrians dominant in combined slalom run one{mosimage}SESTRIERE, Italy – Austria’s Marlies Schild won the first run of slalom in Friday’s women’s combined competition, leading four Austrians into the top six positions.

Americans placed three racers into the top 11, with Resi Stiegler, in her Olympic debut, seventh. Julia Mancuso was 10th and Lindsey Kildow 11th. Minnesotan Kaylin Richardson was 18th.

The second run of slalom was set for later Friday, while the downhill portion, postponed due to high winds Friday morning, will be run Saturday following the men’s super G.

Schild was tops with a time of 38.39 seconds, .26 ahead of runner-up Janica Kostelic of Croatia. Nicole Hosp was third for Austria, Anja Paerson of Sweden fourth and Austrians Kathrin Zettel and Michaela Kirchgasser fifth and sixth, respectively.
