The Swedish Ski Association will now have two alpine head coaches to replace after men’s coach Tomas Karlsson has decided to leave his position as of July 15. Karlsson took over the role on July 1 of last year.

Both the ski association and Karlsson have agreed on mutual terms to terminate his contract after only one season.

“This year has not really gone as I thought. I have not gotten the team together how I hoped. So now I choose to go ahead and have another interesting endeavor at the time,” said Karlsson.

“We agree with Tomas about this and think of course it is sad when a contract is terminated prematurely. We want to thank him for the efforts he has made over the past year and wish Tomas good luck with his new challenges,” said Alpine Director Ville Bylin.

Swedish women’s head coach Fredrik Steinwall announced last week that he would not be seeking a contract extension after four years leading the team, citing the desire to spend more time at home.
