Ski Racing magazine and Atomic host Daron Rahlves party at SugarloafSUGARLOAF, Maine – Daron Rahlves has established himself as the most successful men’s speed racer in the history of American alpine skiing.

As Rahlves preps for perhaps his final national alpine championship, the world’s foremost winter sports publication will host a world-class party in D-Money’s honor.

Ski Racing magazine and Atomic will fete Rahlves with a not-to-be-missed party at the 2006 TD Banknorth U.S. Alpine Championships. The championships will be held March 25-29 at Sugarloaf/USA in Maine.

The journal of snowsport competition, Ski Racing will host the party starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 at The Rack at Sugarloaf. The event is also sponsored by Red Bull, Absolut, Ogio, Spyder and Oakley and will be a fun follow-up to Ski Racing’s December bash at the Birds of Prey World Cup in Beaver Creek. Red Bull and Absolut drink specials will highlight the event, which will feature the music of DJ Melee.

Truckee, California’s Rahlves, a past winner of the famed Hahnenkamm downhill, will try to defend his national super G title at Sugarloaf. He’ll be joined in the field by Bode Miller, third in the World Cup overall standings, and a host of other Olympians and racing standouts.

Ski Racing has done a bit of creative accounting, by summing downhill points and super G World Cup points from this season, to note that Rahlves is the top man in the speed disciplines this winter. He amassed 710 World Cup speed points, ahead of Austria’s Michael Walchhofer (634 points) and Fritz Strobl (599).

Raise a glass to Rahlves with Ski Racing, Atomic and other sponsors at this March 26 gala. The Rack is located on the west side of the Sugarloaf access road.
