Shiffrin to coach junior athletes at Loveland Ski Club

As cold temperatures envelop Loveland and snowmaking continues, Loveland Ski Club (LSC) has announced another outstanding addition to the staff. Taylor Shiffrin, a University of Denver Ski Team alumnus, will be joining them this fall to work with the LSC junior team. Shiffrin’s addition to the staff embodies the commitment at LSC to attract, train, and retain the highest quality individuals to coach, mentor, and lead the LSC athletes.

“I look forward to his positive impact on the junior team and LSC as a whole,” said John Hale, the club’s executive director. “I could not be more thrilled about this latest addition to the staff.”

Shiffrin’s background in ski racing is extensive and includes many NCAA, NorAm, and FIS podiums, including three wins. Shiffrin, a four-year athlete on the DU ski team, was twice a member of the squad that captured the NCAA National Championship in 2014 and 2016 respectively. He participated in seven U.S. National Championships, was the Colorado Surefoot Cup Overall Champion, and is a graduate of Burke Mountain Academy. Taylor is currently enrolled in the MBA program at DU and in addition to his studies, will be applying his considerable experience in ski racing to his role as a junior team coach.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to help the next generation of skiers grow, improve and have as much fun as I did over my career,” Shiffrin said.

Shiffrin’s mom and dad, Eileen and Jeff, and sister, Mikaela, are friends, supporters, and regular guests of Loveland Ski Club.

“I can vividly recall hundreds of training days Mikaela and I had at Loveland all due to the incredible program John and his staff have developed at LSC,” Shiffrin said. “I now want to repay the favor by helping young ski racers pursue and accomplish their dreams through sharing my experience and knowledge of the sport that we all love.”
