Remme snares silver for Canada in YOG slalom

Canadian Roni Remme grabbed a slalom silver medal at the Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria today (Jan. 20) though Slovak Petra Vlhova was in a class by herself for the gold, a whopping 1.49 seconds ahead of the field. Ekaterina Tkachenko of Russia got third. American Julia Mueller-Ristine finished up 12th.

Remme made a charge after finishing fifth in the first run with her better ranked teammate Mikaela Tommy a first run DNF. Mueller-Ristine also moved up in the second run from an 18th place result to make the top dozen.
