The course setters for the Sochi Olympic Winter Games races have been announced following the draws this weekend (Feb. 1). Noticeably absent from the list selected by lottery is a single course setter from the U.S. Ski Team. The Canadians did pick up one set as Jim Pollock is tasked with the first run of the women’s slalom.

For the course setting selection process, each nation received a drawing entry for every one of its skiers ranked in the top 15 in that discipline. Once a nation was drawn, the federation then appointed a course setter from within its staff.

Luis Prenn was originally slated to set both the slalom leg of the women’s super combined and the second run of the slalom race, but his slalom race selection will potentially be turned over to fellow Swiss team coach Werner Zurbuchen pending confirmation. Ante Kostelic of Croatia, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to present two of his typically unorthodox sets in both the men’s super combined and slalom races.
