A noted investment manager and passionate lifelong skier, Alice Ruth, has been named to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The announcement was made by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s (USSA) President and CEO Bill Marolt.

Ruth now heads Willett Advisors LLC as its Chief Investment Officer, moving from her previous role as CIO for Quadrangle Asset Management. Willett Advisors is a firm dedicated to managing the assets of Michael Bloomberg and his foundation.

“Alice brings an amazing business and investment background to our Board of Trustees,” said Marolt. “That knowledge, combined with her enthusiasm for our sports, will make her a strong contributor to our athletes’ quest to be best in the world.”

Ruth comes from a long line of family skiers, so joining the Board was a natural move. With a home in Vail, CO, site of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, she has been active as a supporter of the Team.

Over the last decade Ruth won acclaim for her work as Chief Investment Officer for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation in San Francisco. She was responsible for development and management of a large portfolio and played a leading role in the Foundation which has a focus on environmental conservation and scientific research around the world and quality of life in the Bay Area. Prior to that, Ruth served as a senior managing director of Montgomery Securities for 12 years.

A 1984 Dartmouth economics graduate, she has been active on many non-profit boards including the Vail Mountain School and Vail Valley Medical Center and is currently serving on the board of the Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, MA.

She was also an active member of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation’s very successful New York Ski and Snowboard Ball Committee to which was recently held at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

“I am looking forward to serving on the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation’s Board of Trustees,” said Ruth. “Skiing has been a passion of my entire family for a long time. I am currently actively involved in the ski community and am enthusiastic to become more involved at the national level.”

Ruth and her family reside in New York City. She and husband Ron Alvarez have three children, two who are involved in USSA alpine racing programs and the Stratton Mountain School in Vermont.

“It’s important to have people on our board, like Alice, who understand business, foundations and youth education. Her experience with the Vail Mountain School and a variety of non-profits are all valuable components to our own foundation platform,” said Vice President, Foundation Trace Worthington. “We are very fortunate to have Alice serving on our Board of Trustees and I look forward to learning from her knowledge and experience.”
