Norway names 13 women, 17 men to alpine national team
The Norwegian Ski Association named 30 total athletes to its alpine national teams for the 2016-17 season. The list includes past season headliners like Aksel Lund Svindal, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Kjetil Jansrud, and Nina Loeseth but also covers newcomers Maren Skjoeld and Bjoerner Neteland, the 2015-16 European Cup overall winners.
The respective World Cup teams encompass a total of 16 skiers while the European Cup and development levels have 14 named athletes for the 2016-17 winter.
Several athletes who were injured during the 2015-16 season are expected to return next winter including Svindal, Lotte Smiseth Sejersted, Mina Fuerst Holtmann, Maria Tviberg, and Kristina Riis-Johannessen.
