Today (Feb. 11) , Almaty, Kazakhstan held  it’s first ever World Cup Nordic Combined; thousands of spectators attended. Norway’s Mikko Kokslien took the lead, his third career victory. Germany’s Bjoern Kircheisen came in second and Japan’s Akito Watabe finished third.

“This is a very good week for me..I jumped better and better, and my cross-country performance is stable. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.” said Kokslien.  He remains in fourth place for the men’s overall World Cup standings.

France’s Jason Lamy Chappuis still remains the leader in the World Cup standings, two hundred and five points ahead of Watabe.

The Nordic Combined World Cup will continue tomorrow (Feb. 12) with a second competition in Almaty.
