American Bill Demong is in fourth place halfway through today’s World Cup nordic combined competition in Val di Fiemme, Italy.American Bill Demong is in fourth place halfway through today’s World Cup nordic combined competition in Val di Fiemme, Italy.

Norway’s Magnus Moan won the cross country race 7.7 seconds ahead of Demong. Germans Bjoern Kircheisen and Sebastian Haseney now stand in second and third going into the jumps this afternoon.

American Johnny Spillane led the first half of the race, but slipped back during the second half finishing seventh, 51.9 seconds back.

Competition will resume with two jumps (first round 15:30 hrs, final round 16:30 hrs). Four seconds on the track equal one meter on the hill.

Moan, the winner of two World Cup events this season, is currently in third place in the overall standings, just below Demong in second.
