He finished third today after winning yesterday’s contest. The result marked his 14th career World Cup podium.

“Today was one of those days where it’s right to the very end and you don’t know what’s going to happen,” said Demong. “You’ve got the fastest skiers all together working together and Anssi [Koivuranta] skiing well, holding on to everything he’s worth in the stadium on the last lap.”

Teammates Johnny Spillane and Todd Lodwick were just outside the top ten in 11th and 12th respectively.

Norway’s Magnus Moan won the event followed by Bjoern Kircheisen of Germany in second. World Cup standings leader, Finn Anssi was just off the podium in fourth. Demong is now third in the standings behind Moan in second.

The nordic combined World Cup now has a two-week break before resuming Jan. 31-Feb. 1 in Chaux-Neuve, France.
