Nor-Am: McDonald wins in Sunday River slalom
American Paul McDonald won a Nor-Am slalom today in Sunday River, ME. The 24-year old delivered the second fastest first-run time, then stepped up to the fastest second-run time and the win.
American Paul McDonald won a Nor-Am slalom today in Sunday River, ME. The 24-year old delivered the second fastest first-run time, then stepped up to the fastest second-run time and the win.
Canadians Trevor White and Ryan Semple, yesterday’s winner, joined him on the podium in second and third respectively.
The win boosts McDonald into the decisive second spot of the men’s Nor-Am slalom standings with 280 points. He now stands just one point behind leader Michael Janyk of Canada, who won two Nor-Am slaloms in Winter Park, CO, earlier this season while training for the World Cup. Since the top two skiers in the overall standings and in each discipline are granted a World Cup start in the discipline for the following season, today’s win was huge for McDonald. Janyk did not race in either of the Sunday River slaloms.
