Germany’s Felix Neureuther has underwent surgery on his left ankle in Zurich last week to remove a ganglion cyst within the joint.

The surgery was a success and Neureuther was able to leave the hospital and return to his hometown of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The World Championship slalom runner-up will be able to return to training within weeks.

“I’m fine,” said Neureuther in translation. “The tumor had restricted a lot me in the last weeks. Therefore, the surgical procedure was unfortunately unavoidable.”
