PARK CITY, Utah – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association announced today that M. Alex Natt, Esq. has been named executive vice president and general counsel. Natt has provided counsel to the USSA since 1997 and served as USSA in-house counsel from 2001 to 2008.

“Alex has played a key role with the USSA for many years and will positively impact our athletic programs through his work on the business and governance aspects of implementation of the McKinsey Study,” said USSA President and CEO Tiger Shaw. “He rejoins the USSA staff with not only a great legal and business mind, but has strong familiarity with Olympic sport and governance, including our partnerships with FIS and USOC.”

Natt will be responsible for all USSA legal matters while also implementing the governance findings of the McKinsey Study, commissioned by the USSA in 2012-13 to evaluate the way support is delivered to athletes and parents through USSA clubs and development programs nationwide. He will also provide counsel for overall USSA business operations.

“Olympic and amateur sport is my passion,” said Natt. “The opportunity to combine my passion with the expertise I have gained throughout my almost twenty year legal career is truly a gift. The USSA is a Best in the World sports organization and I look forward to helping guide it in its continuing efforts to raise the bar and better serve its member athletes, clubs and sport parents.”

Most recently, Natt worked in the Park City office of the Jones Waldo Holbrook and McDonough law firm. In Natt new role with USSA, he will also be responsible for managing litigation challenges, licensing and marketing agreements, prosecuting and protecting USSA’s intellectual property, interfacing with USOC and FIS legal representatives, and drafting internal policies and procedures.

Natt and his wife Galen reside in Park City where he enjoys alpine skiing, snowboarding and tries “without great success” to master the telemark turn.
