Nastar National Championship Highlights
After four consecutive days of racing, the Nature Valley Nastar National Championships in Winter Park, Colo., will conclude tomorrow (Mar. 27) with the U.S. Ski Team Pro-Am race. Starting last Friday (Mar. 23) racers from across the country competed for the top spot in their age category. Ages of the racers range from four to ninety-four years old.
Besides competing within age categories, racers participated in other events as well. Abigail Murer, of Ski&Snowboard Club Vail, was female leader in the Race of Champions for the second year in a row. Marc Stodja, of Jay Peak Ski Resort won the men’s Race of Champions. Murer and Stodja will receive an all expenses paid trip to Chile with the U.S. Ski Team for this upcoming summer.
The Trudeau family, who took second in last year’s family challenge, returned to win first place today (Mar. 26) in this year’s family event. Also participating in the family challenge was U.S. Ski Team alum Sarah Schleper, her husband Federico Gaxiola, and their son Lasse. U.S. Ski Team alum, Billy Kidd, was the pacesetter for today’s race.
At a public bib draw that occurred tonight, current members of the U.S. Ski Team were assigned to teams of six or more to compete in tomorrow’s Pro-Am. There twenty teams that are currently registered. The U.S. Ski Team Pro-Am is the final event of the Nastar National Championships.
