U.S. AERIALS SKIERS aerials skiers will save one mega-trip this season. The International Ski Federation said Tuesday the traditional season-opening World Cup aerials events at Australia's Mount Buller for the 2008 season have been canceled.
Mount Buller, which was scheduled to host two men's and women's aerials contests Sept. 8-9, has been the first World Cup site almost every year since Aug. 1-2, 1997 — opening the Olympic season. However, it has battled tricky weather conditions repeatedly — from soft or no snow to wind and fog; a year ago, Buller was forced to cancel because of poor snow conditions in the Southern Hemisphere.     The '08 freestyle season will begin Dec. 13 with men's and women's moguls in Tignes, France, which was the perennial season-opening site for years before the FIS officials moved the first aerials events each season to Australia 10 years ago.
