PARK CITY, Utah — Moguls skier Jay Bowman-Kirigin has been promoted to the U.S. freestyle ski team’s B team after collecting the first World Cup podium of his career, Freestyle Program Director Polly-Jo Clark announced.
Bowman-Kirigin, 19, finished second Feb. 17, three-hundredths of a point behind teammate and reigning moguls world champion Nate Roberts in Inawashiro, Japan. He’s in his first season with the ski team and is a student at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.
“ ‘JBK’ has had an outstanding season, but that podium was especially impressive. And it meets the criteria for promotion to the B team," Clark said. “He won two medals at the Junior World Championships a year ago in Russia and won five NorAm events, including the dual moguls title. And he’s kept up that beat this season as he’s moved onto the World Cup tour.”
