Michaela Dorfmeister wins super G in Are, Sweden; Kildow seventh{mosimage}ARE, Sweden – Austrians Michaela Dorfmeister and Alexandra Meissnitzer took the top two spots in a women’s super-G on Saturday.

The top American in the race was Lindsey Kildow, of Vail, Colorado. Kildow was seventh. Julia Mancuso was 12th, and Caroline Lalive tied for 19th. Kirsten Clark was 27th.

Dorfmeister skied a near-perfect race down the Olympia course, crossing in 1 minute, 7.53 seconds. It was her second super-G win of the season. Meissnitzer was 0.45 behind while Lucia Recchia of Italy took third, 0.52 behind.

World champion and defending World Cup overall titlist Anja Paerson finished fifth before her home fans.

Janica Kostelic of Croatia, a three-time world champion in Bormio, Italy, was 0.54 off Dorfmeister’s pace for fourth.

Paerson, a surprise winner of the super-G world title, was just one-hundredth of a second behind Kostelic.
