LizerouxAccording to a report filed with Eurosport French slalom star Julien Lizeroux, a double medalist at the 2009 World Championships, will skip the North American section of the World Cup tour to prepare for the technical races in his home country, at Val d’Isere, Dec. 11-12.

Lizeroux’s top results have come in slalom, and without any scheduled for the men during the races at Lake Louise (Nov. 27-28) or Beaver Creek (Dec. 3-5), he said he will race the Levi slalom (Nov. 14) and then prepare for Val d’Isere. He will miss a giant slalom at Beaver Creek.

“For me racing is not about building confidence, but about being successful,” he told Eurosport. “I scored my first points in giant slalom last winter and I still want to score more, but I am not in a hurry. I’m progressing slowly, but surely.”

On his website Lizeroux commented on the strength of the French men’s GS team after the squad qualified six skiers for the second run at Soelden that was subsequently canceled by fog. “This is a great way to start the season and the team is in great shape.”

Lizeroux, however, was not one of the six who made the cut and said, “I am still missing some strength.” hm
