U.S. Ski Team alpine racer Caroline Lalive was admitted to the Vail Valley Medical Center Thursday morning after suffering abdominal pains, says USSA Medical Director Richard Quincy.

Lalive, who was working her way back into racing after a
two-year hiatus due to injury, was expected to race in the downhill at the Lake Louise Winterstart in early December.

According to Quincy, doctors removed her appendix Thursday, and are keeping her hospitalized to monitor her progress.
"We are hoping Caroline will be back racing as quickly as possible," says U.S. Ski Team Alpine Director Jesse Hunt. "She was preparing to start her season in the downhill in Lake Louise. She's a tough competitor, though, and we expect to see her racing again soon."
