J3 Rocky/Central: Byrne, McDonald win again

Ski and Snowboard Club Vail racer Greta Byrne won her second race in two days, as did Team Summit’s Conor McDonald on Wednesday at the J3 Rocky/Central Junior Olympics.

Ski and Snowboard Club Vail racer Greta Byrne won her second race in two days, as did Team Summit’s Conor McDonald on Wednesday at the J3 Rocky/Central Junior Olympics.
    Byrne bested the field in the super G by 1.56 seconds with her run of 54.57 seconds. Madeline Wiltgen, from Minnesota’s Buck Hill Ski Team, placed second with a 56.13. Kaytlyn Samuelson, another Ski and Snowboard Club Vail athlete, finished third with a 56.35.
    McDonald, who joined Byrne atop the downhill podium on Tuesday, won the men’s super G race by almost a full second with a time of 54.21. Sean McCormick also made his second trip to the podium in as many days, placing second in the downhill and second again in the super G with a time of 55.15.  Eric Rasmussen, from Wisconsin’s Ausblick Ski Race Team, took third place with a 55.36.
    J3 Rocky/Central Junior Olympic action continues Thursday with the women’s giant slalom race at Vail.
