Training schedules for alpine athletes are beginning to swing back into action this June, and the Italian teams are no exception.

Earlier in the month, Dominik Paris, Peter Fill, Werner Heel, Matteo Marsaglia and Henri Battilani completed a series of physical tests in Novara. Another part of the men’s team took advantage of the good conditions on the Stubai glacier at the same time: Luca de Aliprandini, Alex Zingerle and Manfred Moelgg – who missed the first part of last season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon – enjoyed two days of training on snow.

Ten days later, the ladies’ speed and technical teams have now started 12 joint training days on the glacier of Les Deux Alpes, France, that include work on basic technique. Taking part in this training camp are Elena Curtoni, Irene Curtoni, Federica Brignone, Chiara Costazza, Elena Fanchini, Nadia Fanchini, Francesca Marsaglia, Manuela Moelgg, Johanna Schnarf, Verena Stuffer and Nicole and Sofia Goggia Agnelli. Absent are Karoline Pichler and Marta Bassino, who are both still in rehabilitation after injuries last season.

But there’s good news for Daniela Merighetti. The 34-year-old who fractured her right fibula in a training crash in Garmisch at the beginning of March was also able to join the training camp. After making her first turns on snow in the past week, the medical staff gave her permission to join the rest of the team and follow a training program specifically tailored to her return to ski needs.
