Hoefl-Riesch leads women again in second Bansko downhill training
It was another bluebird day in Bansko, Bulgaria as Germany’s Maria Hoefl-Riesch led the way in a downhill training for the second day in a row.
American Lindsey Vonn, who has already clinched this season’s downhill title, also repeated her result from yesterday with the second fastest time but closed the gap from 0.52 seconds back yesterday to just 0.18 seconds behind today (Feb. 24).
Hoefl-Riesch is looking to win her second consecutive downhill tomorrow after taking her first win of the season in the discipline last weekend in Sochi, Russia.
France’s Marion Rolland was 0.37 seconds off of the leading pace for the third-fastest time of the day. Austrian Elisabeth Goergl was 0.64 seconds adrift in fourth.
American Stacey Cook and Slovenian Tina Maze recorded identical times in fifth place, 0,66 seconds behind the leader.
Fellow Americans Laurenne Ross and Julia Mancuso also cracked the top 20 today on 10th and 18th, respectively.
World cup racing begins tomorrow with the downhill followed by a super G on Sunday.
