The Canadian men rocked Falun, Sweden today (March 16) with Alex Harvey winning the second stage of the World Cup Final, a 3.3k prologue in free technique and Devon Kershaw cementing a second place finish in the season long standings with a third place finish. Overall champion Dario Cologna or Italy finished today’s race in second.

Eirik Brandsdal of Norway finished 26.1 seconds behind Harvey to retain the lead of the multi-staged Final event by 3.4 seconds. Canadian Len Valjas is third in the Final standings, 4.2 seconds behind Brandsdal.

Harvey’s father Pierre, a two time winner at Falun watched the action.

“I was some seconds behind at the intermediate point,” said Harvey, but he picked up time on the downhill after the notorious Moerderbaken climb. “There are many strong guys out there who can win the World Cup Final,” he said.

Finals continue with a 15k classic mass start race Saturday.
