INNSBRUCK, Austria — Austrian skier Hans Grugger will miss the rest of the World Cup season after undergoing surgery on a damaged left knee on Friday.
Grugger had a torn meniscus and ligaments and a damaged cartilage. The injuries were probably caused in November at a downhill training run in Lake Louise, Alberta, the Austrian Ski Federation said in a statement.
The 26-year-old Grugger, who has won four World Cup races, also tore his left knee ligaments last April and missed the speed events in Beaver Creek, Colorado, and Val Gardena, Italy, earlier this season.
