Gregorak wins FIS entry-level race in New Zealand
Ski Club Vail racer Will Gregorak won the men’s slalom race to lead the field of American racers in FIS entry level events last weekend at Treble Cone ski area.
WANAKA, New Zealand — Ski Club Vail racer Will Gregorak won the men’s slalom to lead the field of American racers in FIS entry level events last weekend at Treble Cone ski area.
Gregorak clocked a two-run time 1 minute, 3.11 seconds to edge fellow U.S. racer Nick Cohee by more than half a second. Ian Lochhead, Keith Moffat, Hig Roberts and Michael Radford all finished in the top 10.
Erika Ghent, also of Ski Club Vail, punched the highest finish of the weekend for U.S. women with a second place in the GS. Ghent clocked 1:22.92 over two runs, outpaced by Irish racer Kirsten McGarry’s 1:21.32. Other U.S. racers in the top 10 were Torey Anderson, Avril Dunleavy, Georgia Wettlaufer and Delainey Ackerman.
Treble Cone played host to 125 athletes, and the field included teams from Switzerland, Korea, Japan, Wanaka, Queenstown, Mount Hutt and Mount Ruapehu in addition to the United States.
