Graller joins German coaching staff
This week, the German Ski Federation (DSV) announced Jürgen Graller as the new head coach of the German women’s alpine ski team. Graller is following Markus Anwander, who has been responsible for the group over the past three years.
The 46-year-old coach from Schladming has been active as the European Cup and junior coordinator of the Austrian Ski Association for the last four years. Graller and his coaching staff were able to optimize the team from the junior level to the World Cup and put together a powerful team.
Graller was previously a coach on the World Cup and the European Cup of the Austrian women’s and men’s teams. From 2005 to 2009, his team won two gold medals during the Olympic Winter Games and four medals at World Championships.
“I am looking forward to the new challenge in the German Ski Association and would like to contribute my experience and know-how to the alpine women’s team,” said Graller. “Together with my coaches, the team’s potential is to be exploited in the coming years. The first step in the development of the athletes will be the best possible training plan and prepare the new season.”
Sports Director Wolfgang Maier feels this addition is key for the future of the German team.
“With the addition of the key position in the alpine women’s team, we want to give new impetus to bring the team back into the track for success in the next few years,” Maier said.
