PARK CITY, Utah – The U.S. Freestyle Ski Team has announced the promotion of Matt Gnoza to head moguls coach. Gnoza, who coached the moguls C team for the 2014-15 season, has over 20 years of freestyle leadership and coaching experience previously acting as a moguls coach and freestyle program director at the Killington Mountain School in Killington, Vt.

Hager, who was a moguls skier himself, was involved with the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team as a World Cup technical coach through nine seasons and two Olympics before taking on the head coach role in 2014. Hager worked with athletes at all levels, including Olympic medalists Bryon Wilson, Shannon Bahrke and Hannah Kearney.

“Matt’s experience as C team coach, in addition to his leadership and coaching positions at Killington, is a great stepping stone into this new position,” said Freestyle Program Director Todd Schirman. “Garth has been an invaluable asset to our freestyle program and should be applauded for all the hard work he put in and legacy of results he helped the moguls program receive.”

Gnoza is excited for the possibilities in taking over the moguls team.

“This past season working with the U.S. team was an excellent experience and gave me the foundation I needed to establish a vision for the future,” said Gnoza. “Garth played an integral role in developing USSA’s mogul program, and I look forward to continuing to build on that success in the coming seasons.”
