FRANCE'S STEPHANE TISSOT will miss the rest of the World Cup season after fracturing his left leg on Saturday, the French team said. He has already undergone an operation on the double tibia fracture and a full medical report is expected in the coming days.
Tissot, 26, sustained the injury in a crash in an exhibition parallel slalom at Pila in Italy and was immediately taken to hosptal where — after the opinions of French medical staff — he was operated on immediately.
"We are all terribly sad," France team coach Thierry Meynet said. "OK we have seen much worse things before (alluding to the death of coach Severino Bottero in an accident last year), but after Jean-Pierre Vidal broke his arm in February this is another massive blow for Stephane, for the lads, for all of us."
Tissot is France's top slalom racer this season and finished fourth in the opening World Cup slalom last month in Levi, Finland. Tissot was tied for 15th in the World Cup slalom standings and tied for 50th in the overall at the time of his injury.
