Starting July 1, Osi Inglin will join Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) as its new head alpine FIS coach, overseeing the entire FIS program along with coaching responsibility for the women’s team. Not only does Inglin have over 20 years of international coaching experience from the development to World Cup level, but he has been in the United States before, previously serving as head women’s coach at the Green Mountain Valley School in 2002.

Inglin has coached some of the best alpine racers in the world over the course of his career, including Didier Cuche, Didier Defago, Carlo Janka, Beat Feuz, Fabienne Suter, Micheal von Gruenigen, and Sonja Nef. Most recently, Inglin worked with the Swiss men’s C team during the time when Marco Odermatt won the 2016 FIS Junior World Ski Championship giant slalom title. Odermatt and teammate Loic Meillard are currently ranked first in the world in their respective birth years – 1997 and 1996 – in giant slalom.

“I am thrilled to have Osi join our alpine staff,” said Karen Ghent, SSCV alpine program director. “With the growth in our U19 athlete group it is the ideal time for the organization to bring on a head FIS coach to oversee the entire FIS program.”

Inglin echoed Ghent’s feelings.

“I am really excited to join the Ski & Snowboard Club Vail FIS alpine program for the coming years,” he said. “It is a big challenge for me to bring these young and talented athletes to their highest level.  It’s very important to me that the entire FIS staff is working together closely to push the program forward.”

Inglin is not the only international coach making a career move this spring. Professionals around the globe are packing their bags for new teams while some are more simply moving up the ranks.
