Recap
A chink in the armor. … The Golden Ribbons sustain its first loss of the season, and makes no doubt about it, with a 62-point total to stumble, crash and roll under the bed. … High point total on the week: a dazzling 350 from the Weekend Warriors.

It would have taken one of its better week of scoring for the Golden Ribbons to stop Team PMS. With Kostelic getting a win and a second and Annemarie Gerg contributing 50, the squad posted a creditable 260 off of two races. The Ribbons, built more for speed, did get 50 from Schoenfelder in slalom, and both teams had disappointment from Tina Maze (PMS in an overall slot and the Ribbons in GS).

The Weekend Warriors saw a midweek pickup of Kathrin Zettel worth 125 from a second and fifth, then added Paerson’s win in slalom and Raich’s win in GS. That countered the Rangers’ 145 from Paerson in the overall effectively.

The closest contest of the week saw the Hammers get by Hawk’s Harem 158-131. Podium placings from its slalom skier Marlies Schild and GS skier Massimiliano Blardone paved the way for the win. The Hawks got points from four skiers, and multiple points from Julia Mancuso, but had no one place above sixth and couldn’t counter the guys who got their picture taken.

The Smokin’ Mirrors extended the league-leading win streak to four, riding Giorgio Rocca’s slalom win streak and Zettel in the GS position. The speed skiers in the overall slots (Dormeister and Fischbacher) contributed GS points to pad the total. It was easily enough to move by the stone-cold Birds of Pray with Bode Miller getting blanked for the weekend and just 71 points from Kristina Koznick in slalom and Paerson’s GS points.

The Bottle Rockets got back in the win column with the win from Benjamin Raich in the GS and 40 from Tanja Poutiainen in slalom being all that was needed over a Destroyers team that had to be content with a two-race scoring set from Nicole Hosp and Kalle Palander in GS.

The Blacks cruised to its own three-game win streak, getting three podium placings, two from Marlies Schild and Kostelic for the second-place finish in SL. It was enough to overcome a struggling Schwarzeneggers team that topped out with a seventh from Nicole Hosp in slalom.
