Fantasy Report: Week 5 final

There were some huge scores in Ski Racing Fantasy League this week, with multiple teams getting input from all five positions and causing some upheaval in the standings, particularly in the Forum League, where the league leader got bushwhacked and Extremeskier put up the extreme total of the week with a massive 478 score.

    With wins and double-event scores from each of its overall slots (Kalle Palander with 145 and Marlies Schild at 140) plus 80 from Renate Goetschl in downhill and points from Giorgio Rocca in slalom, Benjamin Raich in GS and Julia Mancuso in SG, the sum easily dispatched NY873Jr and a top competitor contribution of 72 from Anja Paerson in overall.
    Tristate Alumni took out tour leader Kashalot with flair 307-184, riding Bode Miller's 198 three-race contribution, Hermann Maier and Palander in slalom. Kashalot put up Ted Ligety and 116, but got nothing more but 50 from Raich and 18 from Miller's DH points. Dewitt Cave got points right down the roster including podiums from Kathrin Zettel, Lindsey Kildow and Nicole Hosp where it counted for a 315-136 drubbing of MGB, despite a 130 overall contribution from Hosp. SBTski 310-Skibum 252 rounded out the league as Aksel Svindal and Mancuso in overall (250 from them alone) was enough to match Skibum's total and a DH position podium from Fritz Strobl put it over the top.
    And on to the SR league. In the Moser-Proell Division, Interosseous Membrane kept the lone perfect record intact using Renate Goetschl's heat and a 180 overall tally for a 259-190 win over the White Circus Watch. Birds of Pray made a bid for the top of the charts with a 380-point total based on an amazing three wins, one from Steve Nyman in overall plus Palander in the GS hole and Miller in SG. That score was enough to scorch Hilary's Hellacious Hardcore, managing 160 from Paerson, Peter Fill and Marco Buechel. In a battle of heavyweights, Ribbons posted a 386 total to down the unfortunate Destroyers and a 316 total. The Destroyers rallied nicely with Mancuso in an overall position, but the week may have ended a day too soon. Ribbons scored with Svindal in an overall (122) had Nyman in DH and got 60 from Ivica Kostelic in slalom.
    Team PMS made a move on the Stenmark Division standings with a 406-362 edging of Dave's Dumpster Divers. Most weeks with Bode registering 198, Rocca 50 and Hosp 80 a team is going to win, but the Divers discovered that might not be enough when going against Ligety at 136 and Alexandra Meissnitzer with 90 more, plus Hosp and 80 in DH and Goetschl with a SG win. That has to hurt.
    Sammy's Slammers totaled 408, getting 299 from Marlies Schild and Didier Cuche in the overall posts, and adding Christoph Gruber's SG podium. That took down Ranger Rick despite Palander contributing 190 by himself in two categories. Rand Corp stung the Smokin' Mirrors 238-141 with Hosp bringing in 130 in overall and contributions from the entire roster. The Mirrors couldn't get untracked and immediately dumped part of its roster. The Hammers topped Kevlar Lederhosen 228-148 with a full roster of point scorers and Markus Larsson for the slalom win.
