Week 10 recap
Team PMS buried the weekly point record from last week with a whopping 415 total, nailing Dorfmeister’s DH win, and tallying big on a three-event score and win from Janica Kostelic and a three-score weekend with a podium from Nicole Hosp. That was all the scoring, but it was plenty. The unfortunate Blacks were the foes and despite two wins – Hermann Maier’s SG victory at Kitzbuehel and Dorfmeister’s SG win – could barely muster a serious challenge.

The closest battle of the week – Rick’s Ranger earning 282-242 win over the Destroyers, who lost despite their best weekly total of the season. The D-men had Michael’s Walchhofer’s DH win and Marco Buechel getting a podium in the DH slot, but the Rangers countered with Anja Paerson’s 116 off two events, Renate Goetschl’s DH podium and Benjamin Raich getting third in the slalom.

The Schwarzeneggers got 50 points each time from Alexandra Meissnitzer – once in DH, once in SG and twice in overall – for a one-woman power surge. That was enough to dust The Hammers, who topped out with Lindsey Kildow’s 74-point effort and a couple of meek chip-in points from Patrick Jaerbyn and Bruno Kernen.
The Interosseous Membrane totaled out at 329 thanks in large part to Raich in an overall position and a huge 186-point contribution. Add in Daron Rahlves’ third-place finish at Kitzbuehel and the Birds of Pray were left holding a second straight loss, even with Bode Miller pushing in 143 over three events. Having Fritz Strobl DQ in the DH did not help matters.

The Smokin’ Mirrors posted its second straight week over the 350-point line with Michaela Dorfmeister bringing in 214 all by herself. A three-race push from Andrea Fischbacher helped and Miller’s fourth in the DH and Goetschl’s fifth in SG didn’t hurt at all. The Weekend Warriors offered but Walchhofer’s win in the DH position and Rahlves in SG, but got stung with just 90 total from Kathrin Zettel and Didier Defago in the overall positions.

That leaves The Ribbons with a 247 margin over Hawk’s Harem. The Ribbons got three podiums (Maier’s SG win, Goetschl and Rahlves in overall spots) and 45 more from Rainer Schoenfelder in SL while the Harem had Tina Maze with a second in SG, but just 29 from Julia Mancuso and 14 from Kildow in DH.
