Italian Dominik Paris, a 23-year-old World Cup speed racer from Val d’Ultimo is set for surgery after severely injuring his shoulder in a training fall near his home today (June 11). Preliminary reports indicate a grade three lesion of his left shoulder.

Paris was examined in the hospital of Merano immediately after the crash and again later today in Milan where an MRI was administered on behalf of the Italian federation medical commission. Staff indicated surgery would take place within hours in either Merano or Bolzano.

Paris’ best Cup result is second in downhill at Chamonix in 2011.
