Steve Cook earned his third consecutive cross-country disabled World Cup podium Tuesday, finishing second in a 5-kilometer race on day four of the season’s second event.

NESSELWANG, Germany — Steve Cook earned his third consecutive cross-country disabled World Cup podium Tuesday, finishing second in a 5-kilometer race on day four of the season’s second event.
    Cook’s time of 13 minutes, 55.0 seconds was just 11.6 seconds back of winner Kjartan Jaugen of Norway, who claimed his second straight victory in a time of 13:43.4. Russian Kirill Mikhaylov was third in 14.01.1. No U.S. women competed.
    In the mono-ski race, Greg Mallory posted the fastest time for the Americans, finishing in 12th, with teammate Sean Halsted one back in 13th. Chris Klebl, who has hit the podium in every disabled cross-country World Cup race this season, decided to sit out the race to rest for the final event set for Wednesday.
    Irek Zaripov of Russia won the race in 18:17.2, followed by Alain Marguerettz of France and Aliaks Davidovich of Belarus.
