The World Cup Ski Cross season came to an end today (March 19) in Myrkdalen-Voss, Norway as Canadian Chris Del Bosco and Swede Anna Holmlund took home the wins.

Del Bosco, the reigning World Champion, led in all four of his heats today to claim his third victory of the season ahead of Swiss Conradign Netzer in second and the Czech Republic’s Tomas Kraus in third. American X Games champion John Teller won his first two heats but was unable to stay on course in the final and finished fourth.

“I was trying to setup a pass on Del Bosco to go into first. I leaned in and caught a rut and my ski just came off,” explained Teller.

Austrian Andreas Matt, who sealed his first overall title weeks ago, was eliminated in his semifinal heat but won the small final for a fifth-place result, hoisting his point total to 824 on the season. Del Bosco finished with 615 points ranked second for the third consecutive season. Finn Jouni Pellinen landed third with 462 points and Teller, having become the first American man to win a World Cup ski cross race this January, finished fourth with 356 points.

“My goal was to stay fourth in the overall,” said Teller. “I did that and I’m really happy – with no support and no coach, I was doing my own skis the whole year. To pull off a fourth place meant a lot.”

On the women’s side, Holmlund won all three of her heats today to secure her career first overall globe with five victories this season. Canadian World Champion and X Games gold medalist Kelsey Serwa won her first two heats but fell behind Holmlund in the final to finish second, she landed third in the overall rankings just two points behind Germany’s Heidi Zacher (fifth today). Swiss racers Katrin Mueller and Fanny Smith finished third and fourth, respectively today.

Holmlund’s historic title dethroned French ski cross queen Ophelie David (sixth today) who had won the overall globe for the past seven consecutive years. She finished fifth this season at 34 years old.

Canada has sealed this season’s Freestyle overall Nations Cup title with 457 points. The U.S. currently stands second with 270 points. The World Cup freestyle season concludes in Myrkdalen-Voss tomorrow with men’s and women’s dual moguls contests.
