Czech jumper Mazoch remains unconscious

Czech ski jumper Jan Mazoch remained unconscious Sunday after crashing at a World Cup event in Poland.

WARSAW, Poland — Czech ski jumper Jan Mazoch remained unconscious Sunday after crashing at a World Cup event in Poland.
''He sustained injuries to his skull and brain,'' said Anna Niedzwiedzka, spokeswoman for the University Hospital in Krakow. Doctors are keeping the 22-year-old skier in a state of medically-induced unconsciousness for further tests.
In difficult wind conditions, Mazoch crashed and appeared to bounce off the hill during his second jump in Zakopane on Saturday.
Mazoch was first taken unconscious to hospital in Zakopane and then to Krakow with injuries that doctors have described as life-threatening.
