Cuche could miss Val Gardena with broken rib

Swiss veteran Didier Cuche has broken a rib and is questionable for racing.

His website said the injury was “rather embarrassing, but not serious,” but it is causing pain. He sustained the injury during a training crash ahead of the races this past weekend in Val d’Isere, France, and elected to skip the final race of the weekend, a giant slalom because of the pain.

The website says he intends to travel to Val Gardena, Italy, the site of the upcoming World Cup races, and attempt a training run. If he competes or not depends on the pain level.

He broke the fifth rib in his left scapula according to the website.
