U.S. Alpine Ski Team member Stacey Cook has partnered with Sun Valley Ski Tools (SVST) to once again sponsor a scholarship for junior ski racers. This is the third time the California native has promoted the scholarship, which is aimed at supporting J2’s and J3’s with world-class ski tuning tools.

Cook, an alumnus of the program, and representatives from SVST will revue the application forms, essays and coach recommendations to select the four most deserving, well-rounded applicants. An online invitation on Cook’s website stated that they are looking for racers that “train hard and compete to the best of [their] ability, whatever that might be, and while doing so, display behavior that compliments [SVST’s] quality reputation in the ski industry.”

“We are looking for applicants that can not only display talent but a good attitude, community involvement, commitment to the sport, and are hard working and real,” wrote Cook on her website. “This is a fantastic opportunity for you as a young racer to build your connections, and increase your knowledge of working closely with sponsor.”

Recipients of the scholarship will be awarded  $500 of Race Service 1 wax products and their pick of $500 of SVST tools, as well as a few other “perks” that will be revealed to the recipients, once they are selected.

“I want to extend a huge thank you to SVST for their generosity in this program, especially amongst the economic hard times the ski industry is facing,” wrote Cook.

“The sole purpose of the scholarships is to serve as a thank you from Jim and Norma Vermillion, owners of SVST, to the alpine ski racing community,” said Jeff Warner, a promoter of the scholarship.

The deadline for applications is Oct. 11. The winners names will be posted to Cook’s website, www.staceycook.net, once a decision has been made.
