The canceled Birds of Prey downhill originally scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3 will be made up on Friday, March 11, 2011 in Kvitfjell, Norway, the International Ski Federation (FIS) announced Monday (Dec. 6). Kvitfjell is the final men’s World Cup weekend prior to World Cup Finals and will now feature back-to-back downhill races and a super G.

Despite incredible snow conditions and two successful training runs at Beaver Creek, organizers were forced to cancel the downhill due to high winds. Saturday’s super G was won by Georg Streitberger of Austria, while Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) captured the season opening giant slalom. The original men’s GS opener slated for Oct. 24 in Soelden, Austria was canceled due to fog and will not be replaced.
