Shona Rubens and Jeff Frisch earned the super G titles on Sunday at the Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships.
CANADIAN NATIONAL TEAM racer Shona Rubens held off teammate Emilie Desforges in the women’s super G and skied away with her second national title of the week Sunday at the Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships at Whistler, B.C.
    Rubens, who earlier won the slalom title and finished second in the GS, clocked a winning time of 1 minute, 16.12 seconds. Desforges finished in 1:16.85 to take silver, and 17-year-old Marie-Michele Gagnon took the bronze in 1:17.41.
    U.S. C team racer Keely Kelleher led a small contingent of Americans in fifth place at 1:18.15. Fellow C teamer Julia Littman finished 29th and Katie Beardsley was 34th.
    In the men’s super G, Canada’s Jeff Frisch eked out a win, beating John Kucera by two-hundredths for the gold. Frisch, who captured his second Canadian title after winning the downhill gold last season, clocked 1:13.56. NorAm overall champ Erik Fisher of the United States finished just three-hundredths back in third in 1:13.59.
    Every U.S. racer who entered finished in the top 30. T.J. Lanning was seventh, followed by Marco Sullivan (10th), Scott Macartney (11th), Chris Beckmann (16th), Tim Jitloff (17th), Jeremy Transue (18th), Tim Kelley (21st) and Errol Kerr (27th).
