Black Family to lead rebranded Ski Racing Media

Ski Racing International has announced that the Black Family will continue to own and operate the business in light of the passing of its owner and CEO, Gary Black, Jr. Heather Black will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer and Amanda Black will act in an advisory capacity focusing on marketing and sales, effective immediately. Both will also serve as managing partners of the larger entity, rebranded as Ski Racing Media, which includes the website SkiRacing.com, a mobile application, a sponsored content creative team, video production crew, and all integrated social media channels.

Heather Black worked at Ski Racing International from 1988 until 1997, and as wife of Gary, has continued to be informed on the events in the ski race community. While at Ski Racing, Heather served as executive assistant to the publisher, as chief operating officer of Sports File (the stock photo agency owned by Ski Racing at the time), as a photographer, and photo editor. Additionally, she has served in leadership roles outside of the ski industry, is a current Masters ski racer, and has raised a junior ski racer.

Amanda Black is employed by the foundation arm of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, but worked on and off for Ski Racing for almost 15 years. She served as advertising director of the brand from 1998-2002 and as publisher from 2006-2008. Amanda was a junior racer herself and has a son who is currently on the Sun Valley “D” Team.

Claire Brown will remain publisher and chief operating officer and Christine J. Feehan will continue as editor in chief. It is the intention of the Black Family to remain true to the integrity and mission that Gary Black established for his organization. The family and staff strive to carry his legacy into the future. Ski Racing Media offers its gratitude for our past and present supporters as well as the entire snowsports community.
