Bad K: Raich wins first run slalom
Defending World Cup slalom champion Benjamin Raich leads at the halfway turn in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria, Sunday, Dec. 9.
Raich maintains a .24 of a second first run lead over Swede Jens Byggmark who roared into the slalom limelight with back to back slalom wins at Kitzbuehel a season ago. German Felix Neureuther was third .31 of a second behind. Markus Larsson was fourth with Reinfried Herbst and Manfred Moelgg tied in fifth.
Jimmy Cochran provided the U.S. with hopes in seventh after Ted Ligety exited the course in the first run and Bode Miller finished 45th, missing the qualification cut.
