Austria’s Markus Eggenhoffer maintained a firm grip on the lead in the Continental Cup Ski Jumping standings after posting a pair of top five finishes over the weekend in Oberstdorf, Germany.

    Eggenhoffer, who was fifth in the opening competition Friday, finished second on Saturday behind winner Jakub Janda of the Czech Republic. Eggenhoffer hasn’t finished out of the top five in his last six jumps (two in Lillehammer, two in Villach and two in Oberstdorf).
With two events left in the summer schedule—Oct. 11-12 in Falun, Sweden—Eggenhoffer has 457 points to lead teammate Manuel Fettner by nearly 100 points. Fettner has 361 points while Primoz Pikl of Slovenia sits third with 316.
    Germany’s Felix Schoft won Friday’s competition in Oberstdorf, followed by Austria’s Wolfgang Loitzl and Germany’s Severin Freund.
    The top American jumper in the Continental Cup standings is Nick Fairall of the Andover Outing Club in a tie for 49th. Anders Johnson of the National Sports Foundation is currently in 62nd place.
