Under blues skies and on ideal conditions, Tina Maze and Adrien Théaux were declared the winners of the fourth edition of the Red Bull SKiLLS race on Sunday in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

The international field of participants attracted many spectators to the Silvano Beltrametti World Cup track at Lenzerheide, and ensured a spectacular ending of a long season. The international World Cup racers had to wait three years, but they finally got to see somebody other than Swiss-Ski athletes on top of the Red Bull SKiLLS podium.

Slovenian runner-up of the overall World Cup, Tina Maze, and Frenchman Adrien Théaux were able push the 2014 winners, Denise Feierabend and Mauro Caviezel, respectively, back to second places. Red Bull SKiLLS is a race that encompasses all four disciplines in a single course with no stopping and no changing of skis.

The stars had to put their versatile qualities to the test and had to stand against challengers who had qualified in three other events for the finals. The transition from super G into the slalom – most riders used giant slalom skis – was pretty tricky. Other World Cup stars in the mix included Fritz Dopfer (GER), Patrick Kueng (SUI), Frida Hansdotter (SWE), Tina Weirather (LIE), Davide Simoncelli (ITA) and Eva-Maria Brem (AUT), and all of them had their share of fun at the same time.

“I am really content. Being a part of this event alone is amazing. I had so much fun here on the Lenzerheide. Winning is the total highlight” said Théaux, who in all this exaltation didn’t forget to thank the audience for a great day and an even greater race.

After a long World Cup season that had taken its toll physically as well as mentally, Maze took a seemingly easy victory in the women’s field.

“A race with four disciplines is just cut out for me. I have proved that I can be fast in all disciplines.” Maze didn’t forget to stress the fact that besides all the fun, it’s important to live up to your abilities: “You need to ski well here in order to be fast and make it across the finish line safely.”

Maze, who finished third last year, was both safe and fast to take the 2015 victory.
