Ski Jumping: Schlierenzauer racks up three titles

Printer-friendly versionSend to friendThe World Cup ski jumping season ended today with a flying hill individual competition in Planica, Slovenia as Austria’s Gregor Schlierenzauer took home the ski flying and nordic tournament titles to join his first overall title, clenched March 16. He dominated the season with 13 World Cup wins more than doubling his 2008 tally.

Today’s victory went to Finn Harri Olli, followed by Poland’s Adam Malysz and Simon Ammann of Switzerland in second and third, respectively.

Schlierenzauer’s teammate Wolfgang Loitzl joined him on the overall podium in third. Ammann ended the season in second overall.

The top American jumper on the overall list was Nicholas Fairall in 60th, followed by Anders Johnson in 87th.
