Cross country teams from Norway and Finland ran away with today’s team sprint races at the 2009 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic.

Norwegians Johan Kjoelstad and Ola Vigen Hattestad grabbed their second medals of these championships with the win followed by Germans Tobias Angerer and Axel Teichmann in second. Finns Ville Nousianen and Sami Jauhojaervi rounded out the podium in third.

The American team of Kris Freeman and Torin Koos finished 11th.

Finland’s Aino Kaisa Saarinen and Virpi Kuitunen won the women’s race. Sweden’s Anna Olsson and Lina Andersson took the sliver, while Itlay’s Marianna Longa and Follis Arianna claimed the bronze.

Once again the Americans finished 11th, represented by Laura Valaas and single sprint sliver medalist Kirkkan Randall.

With the men’s gold, Norway now owns the lead in the medals count with seven. The U.S. is in second with five.
