Dusseldorf: Majdic, Hattestad win sprints

She sped past Russian Natalia Matveeva and Norwegian Maiken Caspersen Falla for the win, moving within eight points of tour leader Aino Kaisa Saarinen of Finland for the lead of the World Cup overall standings.

Norway's Ola Vigen Hattestad battled teammate Tor Arne Hetland for the men's victory. Hattestad holds control of the men's standings 300-208 over Swiss Dario Cologna with Hetland third at 191.
 

American Andy Newell had a strong result in 11th. Kikkan Randall was the top American in the women's race, placing 40th.
