AUSTRIAN JUMPER Gregor Schlierenzauer won the FIS Grand Prix Four Nations Tournament after capturing the fourth and final event in Pragelato, Italy.
    Schlierenzauer jumped 136.5 and 135 meters and scored 271.7 points, winning the competition over Roman Koudelka of the Czech Republic (133/134.5 for 266) and Harri Olli of Finland (129.5/134.5 for 257.7).
    Germany’s Georg Späth, who led the Four Nations standings after three events, had to sit out the fourth event with a stretched knee ligament. Schlierenzauer praised Spath, saying the German would have won the tournament if healthy.
    “No doubt I was lucky today,” Schlierenzauer said. “I had a very small chance for the overall before today’s competition. I was 17 points behind Kofi [Andreas Kofler] but after my great jump in the first round I took full risks in the final and was lucky in the end. It feels great to win the Four Nations Tournament.”
    The final standings had Schlierenzauer winning with 913.2 points, Kofler second with 908.3 and Simon Ammann of Switzerland third with 897.6 points.
    The nine-event FIS Grand Prix shows Schlierenzauer leading the standings after four events with 270 points. Kofler is second with 260 points and Späth third with 230. The next two competitions are slated for Aug. 29-30 in Zakopane, Poland.
